"My body is weak but my spirit is free," exclaimed Siska (20 years old), a young girl who continues to fight lupus, a disease that gradually undermine her body. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by the body's immune system that attacks the body itself.
Lupus weakens the body's defenses and can attack various parts of the body, from blood cells, joints, heart, brain, and other organs.
Siska is diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (LES), a lupus disease which in addition attacks the organs, also makes the skin reddish (erythema). Everyday lupus that Siska experiences makes her weak, lying in bed, sick and unable to move as usual. Even once, Siska had a stroke and was rushed to a hospital.
Siska came from an underpriviledge family in Bengkulu. Siska's father is as a construction worker and her mother works as a street sweeper with income below 2 million per month. When her lupus recurred, Siska had to be hospitalized immediately in Palembang. Siska and her family had to pay for transportation and accommodation costs that were not cheap.
