Experiencing an excruciating pain is such a heavy burden for a 3-years-old like Ahmad. When he was only 6-month-old, he suffered from shortness of breath. His face looked bluish and he had coughed with pleghm. His body was also swollen for two months. Initially, the swelling was only in the legs, but then it spread to the eyes and stomach. Ahmad was hospitalized for 4 days, then he has referred again to another hospital because his condition did not improve, and then hospitalized again for 3 weeks. The examination using a thorax photo was performed on Ahmad. The result showed that Ahmad was having cardiomegaly and perihilar infiltrate (sensation due to sputum in the lungs). The cardiomegaly is a condition where the heart is swollen and it can be seen through imaging such as X-rays.
In May, Ahmad had a limp, succinct and swollen face. Then he was intubated (inserting the tube into the upper airway). After re-x-ray were performed, it is known that Ahmad had respiratory acidosis (decreased blood pH caused by abnormal processes in the lungs) and also experienced an infection which made him sent him to the perinatal intensive care unit (PICU). At PICU, Ahmad uses the ventilator mode.
Doctors diagnose Ahmad suffering from pulmonary hypertension, Bronchiectasis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, and also congestive heart failure. Pulmonary hypertension is an increase in function in the lung arteries associated with late blood flow through the lungs. Bronchiectasis is a condition of the bronchial tubes found in the lungs, damage, or can occur further from one branch of the bronchi. Ventricular associated pneumonia (VAP) is pneumonia that develops 48 hours or more after surgery. If you want a congestive heart failure is a condition when the heart muscle becomes very weak, it can not pump enough blood to the body. In addition, Ahmad was also diagnosed with malnutrition and otitis media (central ears infection).
Medical actions had already done as well as further laboratory checking. This 3-year-old boy can only breathe using an outward-giving tool. Currently, Ahmad requires non-invasive ventilators and portable oxygen to be taken home. Ahmad's parents cannot afford to buy or rent the equipment because the father who sells porridge on daily life only have an average income of 2 million per month, while the cost of the required equipment reaches 75 million rupiah. Plus, they still have dependents of 3 children including Ahmad for daily needs.
Let's help Ahmad to get his medical equipment!
If Ahmad gets help, the fund will be used for the purchase of non-invasive ventilators and portable oxygen for Ahmad's care at home.
