# **About The Giving Jar - Sunflower Preschool Charity Project** Growing kids to be generous does not happen overnight. Most parents can't also just assume that children will turn out to be generous people. They have to work at it constantly. But there's no better way to teach it than to model it. For instance, if you show kindness to the wait staff, then most likely your kids will realize that's how it's done. If you say thank you when you've been given something, then they too, will do the same.

At Sunflower Preschool, we continually uphold to teaching our kids good values that are for keeps. This final term we hope to instill in them the value of generosity & tying it up with teamwork. We need to make our little ones see that generosity requires sacrifice. A concrete example would be giving up something on their part to be able to give it to others.

It is in this light that we are launching a GIVING JAR. The School will facilitate this mission until August 2019. Definitely, it's great to engage our children to this cause to make them realize that there are other people who need help By doing this project, we can show our preschoolers how being generous lift different communities. It takes an incredible amount of teamwork though to make this possible. Hence, we will encourage each class to work closely together. We don't need to force our kids to give more than what they want to give, but it is essential that we set an example by living out this value itself. WeCare.id is an online, peer-to-peer medical crowdfunding platform, funding medical treatment for underserved patients mainly in peripheral areas spread across Indonesia. WeCare.id was officially launched in October 2015 and to date, we have successfully raised approximately IDR 6 billion, funded 450+ patients across Indonesia with 20.000+ donors participated. Our motto is "Towards Healthy, Equal, Indonesia". WeCare.id strives for Universal Health Care (UHC) and we believe that every individual in Indonesia deserves a decent healthcare. In reality, not all Indonesian people have access to good health services due to financial problem, remote location, and no possession of national health insurance. Nowadays, although approximately 60% of Indonesian people already have national healthcare insurance, facilities, especially in the remote areas, remain insufficient. For instance, in one of the peripheral areas in Indonesia, a public hospital has to serve three districts with a total population of 800.000 people. As a result, patients have to be referred to bigger hospital in the city with more adequate facilities. The problem is that not all patients are able to afford transportation for referral or hospital transfer since national health insurance does not cover them. There are also supporting costs for other necessities such as supplementary nutrition, medications, medical devices, and others, which are not covered by national health insurance. In addition, there are still patients who are unable to afford the national health insurance program. Therefore, WeCare.id facilitates them to process their insurance ownership as well as raising money to pay for their insurance premiums for underprivileged patients and other supporting costs related to their medical care. We partnered up with hospitals across Indonesia, as well as government agencies, physicians, and other healthcare professional to submit their patients through our platform so that they can secure access to their medical funding. Our team also consists of doctors and other healthcare professionals for the purpose of patient verification and to ensure that the funding is in accordance with their medical needs.
